Thoughts for Maundy Thursday

Forget any suggestion that Jesus was trapped.
Erase any theory that Jesus made a miscalculation.
Ignore any speculation that the cross was a last-ditch attempt to salvage a dying mission.
For if these words tell us anything, they tell us that Jesus died…on purpose.
No surprise. No hesitation. No faltering.

Excerpt from And The Angels Were Silent, by Max Lucado

Jesus said, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified.” ~ Matthew 20:18,19

“I lay down my life…No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.” ~ John 10:17,18
